14th JC: TetrisCache

Saturday, 28.5.2016

For some days I was asking Dr. Google about a new idea for an Arduino based cache. I found a Tetris game programmed by Joao Vilaca from Portugal. The game was looking very nice and I downloaded the code.

What a surprise: Up to now I thought, I would be a middle experienced Arduino programmer. Now I’m knowing I’m a real newbie! I never saw such a program, sliced into several libraries (or subsketches?). It was very hard to figure out the logic of the sketch. But on Friday I was able to do the first modifications on it.

A 2.2“ TFT I  had in my private stock (a 2015 birthday gift from my husband Tina) already. I tried to work with it already in the past, but I failed. So I started learning over again.

A small joystick was also quickly ordered from Amazon and arrived on Thursday. So I was able to built the prototype and took it with me to work on Friday. My colleagues Doreen (the lady which did the „Camino del Rey“) and Günter played with it. Again Günter came up with ideas to have the joystick working more logically…

Both of them must have played Tetris a lot when being young. They reached much more than 10 lines in their first attempt, while I need a lot of tries to have only one...

Today I uploaded this video and worked on some enhancements. But my cam is already put beside to fly with me to you, so the video above isn’t showing the latest version...

Stay tuned!

Blog will be continued…
