Tim and me are quite concerned about weather protection of our electric parts. Here’re some ideas of mine:
Lock & Lock boxes: All electronics I will - if possible - built into a „Lock & Lock“ box. They’re totally air- and watertight. To be able to still connect an USB cable when the Arduino board is fixed inside, I chossed a little bit bigger one called HPL815. The dimensions are 7.1 x 5 x 2 inches.
angeled USB cable: To be pretty sure the USB cable can still be connected when the Arduino is fixed inside the Lock & Lock box I ordered an angeled USB cable.
Silica gel: Even if the Lock & Lock boxes are totally tight, I think we need to keep them dry inside. So I ordered packs of silica gel. It can be regenerated by putting them for some hours into a baking oven by a little bit above 200°F (but less than 230°F).
Not so clear is for me at this moment, how to protect the parts not stored inside the Lock & Lock boxes as motors, LCD displays and buttons. Only the LEDs shouldn't be any problem.
So some additional thoughts still needed.
